Personalised Enamelware for Narrowboats and Canal Boats

Your boat already has a name. Your plates should too.

Personalised enamelware for a narrowboat is a set of steel-core, glass-fused enamel plates, with matching mugs and bowls if you want them, engraved with your boat's name. It is light, hard to break, and sits well in a galley. NorthestAve, a UK supplier of custom branded enamelware, makes sets with no minimum order quantity, so one boat means one set. UK delivery takes 3–5 working days, or next day if you order before 10am.

Why does enamelware suit a canal boat so well?

A galley has little space and a lot of movement. Enamelware is a steel body coated in glass fused at high heat. That gives you three things china can't.

  • It doesn't shatter when the boat shifts. A plate knocked off a shelf in a lock gets a dent at worst, not a mess.
  • It's light. A 26cm dinner plate weighs 350g and a 20cm side plate 220g, and weight and storage both matter on a 57-foot boat.
  • It looks right. Enamel has been part of canal life for generations, alongside the roses and castles painted on cabin sides.

If you want the honest downside: a hard knock can chip the glass edge. Treat it like a good cast-iron pan, not like a plastic picnic mug.

What can we put on it?

The boat's name is the obvious start. Owners also choose:

  • The name in the same lettering as the hull
  • A mooring or home port line, such as "[Home mooring]"
  • A small roses-and-castles-style motif or a simple emblem, plus a rim colour (black, blue, red, yellow or teal) to suit your paintwork
  • The year you bought her

Every piece is permanently engraved, not printed, so the name stays crisp through years of washing up and thousands of dishwasher cycles. On a plate you can personalise the upper rim, the lower rim and the centre, and add up to three images or lines of text in different areas for the same price. Send us a photo of your hull lettering and we will match the style.

Who buys these?

  • Owners kitting out a newly bought or newly painted boat
  • Families buying for a retiring parent who has finally bought the boat
  • Hire fleets and boat-share groups who want a consistent look in every galley
  • Marinas and boatyards giving a branded gift to a new berth holder

How do I order a set for my boat?

  1. Choose your plates: 20cm side plates, 26cm dinner plates, or both. Add matching mugs or bowls if you like.
  2. Send the boat name and any lettering reference.
  3. We check the artwork and contact you if anything needs adjusting.
  4. We engrave and ship from the UK. Delivery is 3–5 working days, or next day if you order before 10am.

Because there is no minimum order quantity, you can start with two plates and add matching mugs or bowls later. A matching set can be re-ordered under the same boat name.

WhatsApp Us with a photo of your hull lettering and we will send a proof.
